Okanagan Valley: Home to more than 70 world class wineries |
|||||||||||
Cradled between two mountain ranges, a chain of blue lakes spans the floor of Okanagan Valley. It`s a warm-weather region, blessed with miles of sandy beaches. The largest, oldest grape-growing region in BC (dating to the mid-1800s), the Okanagan is often called the fruit bowl of Canada. Its 180km (112mile) valley floor is planted with more than 4,000 acres (1,500 hectares) of premium grape varieties. Okanagan vineyards produce an awesome 95% of BC`s wine. The Okanagan Valley hosts four wine festivals annually: Fall Wine Festival, Winter/Ice Wine Festival, Spring Wine Festival and the Summer Wine Festival.
